Terms of Service

Last updated: July 12, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Secure Document Sharing, a Chrome browser extension published by Securiqon (“we”, “us”, “our”), and the website at secure-doc-share.securiqon.com.

By installing, accessing, or using the extension or website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the extension.

Important: The extension and website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or guarantees of any kind. You use them at your own risk. See Disclaimer of warranties and Limitation of liability below.

1. The service

Secure Document Sharing provides:

  • A local encrypted vault for organizing files in Chrome
  • Bundle creation: client-side encryption and optional upload to your Google Drive
  • A receiver page to decrypt bundles with a link and key
  • Optional export of decrypted files to your computer (e.g. plain ZIP archives)
  • Optional Pro features as described in the Chrome Web Store listing

The extension runs primarily on your device. We do not host your vault contents, passphrases, or encryption keys on Securiqon servers.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time without liability.

2. Your responsibilities and assumption of risk

You are solely responsible for:

  • Choosing, storing, and protecting your vault passphrase and bundle keys
  • Securely distributing bundle keys only to intended recipients
  • Evaluating whether the extension meets your security, compliance, and business needs
  • Compliance with laws applicable to documents you store, export, or share
  • Configuration of your Google account, Google Drive, and any Google Cloud OAuth setup
  • Maintaining independent backups of important data outside the extension

You assume all risk related to:

  • Permanent data loss if you lose your passphrase, reset the vault, uninstall the extension, clear browser data, or suffer device failure
  • Plaintext exports (ZIP or single files): exported content is decrypted and may be read by anyone with access to the saved file or folder on your computer
  • Google Drive: availability, sync, quotas, account suspension, policy changes, deletion of the Secure Document Share app folder or uploaded bundles, and actions by Google or other users with access to your Drive account
  • Recipients: whether they protect bundle keys, verify sender identity, or use the receiver correctly
  • Browser and platform changes: Chrome updates, extension API changes, Web Store removal, or OS issues that affect operation or data access

Loss of your passphrase may result in permanent loss of access to encrypted data. We cannot recover it.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the extension to:

  • Violate any law or third-party rights
  • Distribute malware or illegal content
  • Attempt to circumvent security of the extension or Google services
  • Abuse Google Drive API quotas or OAuth systems

4. Third-party services

Google Chrome and Chrome Web Store

Your use of Chrome and installation from the Web Store are subject to Google’s terms and policies. We are not responsible for Chrome Web Store availability, billing disputes handled by Google, or removal of the extension from the store.

Google Drive and Google Cloud

If you connect Google Drive or configure OAuth, your use of Google services is governed by Google’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Google Drive is optional transport. We are not responsible for Google service availability, outages, data loss on Google’s systems, or policy changes.

Third-party services are not under our control. Any reliance on them is at your own risk.

5. Intellectual property

The extension, website, branding, and documentation are owned by Securiqon or its licensors. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the extension as intended through the Chrome Web Store.

You retain all rights to your content. We do not claim ownership of your files.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE EXTENSION, WEBSITE, AND ALL RELATED MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITH ALL FAULTS, AND WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, STATUTORY, OR OTHERWISE.

WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION:

  • MERCHANTABILITY
  • FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
  • TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT
  • QUIET ENJOYMENT
  • ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, OR COMPLETENESS OF DATA
  • THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS
  • THAT OPERATION WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE
  • THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED
  • THAT THE EXTENSION IS FREE OF VIRUSES, MALWARE, OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS
  • THAT ENCRYPTION, DECRYPTION, KEY HANDLING, OR EXPORT WILL SUCCEED IN EVERY CASE OR PROTECT AGAINST ALL THREATS NOW OR IN THE FUTURE

Cryptography, browsers, operating systems, and third-party APIs evolve. Past behavior does not guarantee future security or compatibility. The extension is not a certified security product, not legal or compliance advice, and not a substitute for professional information-security, legal, or archival services.

No oral or written information or advice from us creates any warranty not expressly stated in these Terms.

Some jurisdictions do not allow exclusion of implied warranties; in those cases, exclusions apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

7. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:

IN NO EVENT SHALL SECURIQON, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR LICENSORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY:

  • INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES
  • LOSS OF DATA, FILES, PASSPHRASES, KEYS, PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, OR GOODWILL
  • UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, DISCLOSURE, OR CORRUPTION OF YOUR CONTENT
  • FAILED, DELAYED, INCOMPLETE, OR INCORRECT UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD, ENCRYPTION, DECRYPTION, OR EXPORT
  • RELIANCE ON BUNDLES, DRIVE LINKS, EXPORTS, OR BACKUPS
  • CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF GOOGLE CHROME, THE CHROME WEB STORE, GOOGLE DRIVE, OR OTHER THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
  • REGULATORY, CONTRACTUAL, OR TORT CLAIMS BY YOU OR THIRD PARTIES (INCLUDING RECIPIENTS) RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE EXTENSION

WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS, THE EXTENSION, OR THE WEBSITE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE EXTENSION OR PAID FEATURES IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow limitation of liability for certain damages; in those cases, the limitations above apply to the fullest extent permitted by law.

8. Paid features (Phase 2+)

When in-app purchases are enabled:

  • Pro trial: new installs may receive a limited-time trial with Pro features and unlimited bundle send.
  • Single send: a one-time fee per published bundle (encrypt + upload to your Google Drive). Each new publish requires a new payment unless you subscribe to Pro.
  • Pro subscription: monthly fee for unlimited sends and advanced features while the subscription is active.
  • Early adopters: installs before the published cutoff date may retain free bundle send as described in the store listing at install time.

All paid features are provided as is, without SLA or uptime guarantee. Subscriptions renew per Chrome Web Store billing rules until cancelled. Refunds follow Google and applicable law only. We do not guarantee uninterrupted send, Drive availability, feature availability, or future pricing.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Securiqon and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your content or data
  • Your use or misuse of the extension or website
  • Your distribution of bundle keys, exports, or Drive links
  • Your violation of these Terms or applicable law
  • Your violation of any third-party rights

10. Changes

We may modify these Terms, the extension, or the website at any time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. If you do not accept updated Terms, you must stop using the extension and uninstall it.

11. Termination

You may stop using the extension at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or discontinue the extension where required by law or platform policies. Sections that by their nature should survive (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) survive termination.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where Securiqon operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Courts in that jurisdiction shall have exclusive venue, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide otherwise.
